Shout out to Ravi for being one of what feels like two businesses that are open in this area on a Sunday. And early, too!
Another shout out because the food here is delicious. I'm partial to paneer, but the chicken is really good as well. The portions are just right, and it isn't very spicy, even if you order it medium. Maybe I should crank it up a notch. Also, adding regular na'an to an order is only an additional $1, which isn't too bad, or you can opt for one of their lunch plates which will only run you around $8 or so, last I checked.
The folks who take your order are super friendly, and the wait usually isn't anything bad. However, you will need to get your own plates and utensils, as well as water and napkins.
Last shout out for having some seriously clean bathrooms. I dig that. -

As I was walking around the area, I noticed a very small orange banner with the name "Raavi" on it. Ironically enough, I have a friend who's name is Ravi. Seeing it was an authentic Indian food place. I had to give it a try.
All in all, I truly enjoyed this place and would personally go back. I ordered the Chicken Tikka with a side of rice and Naan. The naan was perfect and fluffy incredibly tasty. The rice was, well rice.
The chicken tikka was absolutely fantastic though. Incredibly creamy, the chicken was cooked thoroughly and it was just loaded with those key Indian spices you look for.
My biggest complaints would be 1. The seating. If you're coming here on your 12-1 lunch break, good luck to you there is very limited table seating my so get their ASAP.
2. The serving size. I'm a bit confused as how the serving sizes are decided here. I had enough rice for 3 bowls of Chicken Tikka. Clearly more cost effective to load up the rice and not the entree, I get it. But still I was left with so much rice. It would be nice to split it with someone, but then you're minimizing your entree which personally, I found a bit on the small side.
Overall, I was quite satisfied and with working around the corner I truly intend to visit again when I get a hankering for some truly authentic Indian cuisine -

What a delightful surprise!
Raavi is located at the edge of financial district and Chinatown, with a polished facade. From the looks of it I expected a pricey meal that compromised authenticity for acceptance by mainstream American tastebuds. I was wrong on both fronts. Got dragged here by a coworker - we ordered butter chicken and lamb biriyani. Both were really delicious and true to their respective Indian flavor profiles. The meal came down to $30 after tax and tip, which if you know SF you realize is about how much deli sandwiches cost. They even have free chai that you can enjoy, whereas a similar restaurant may charge you $3 a cup. It's amazing! -

Came here with a friend based on his long time patronage. Looked at the menu and it was very simple choice, Tandoori chicken. The concept is everything is self service including water and free tea. The meal arrived and looked fabulous and the only thing better was the taste. Delicious, to be honest I'm not sure exactly sure what the sides were but they are excellent. The bread and salad was perfect and the portions were the right size. BYW, you can't get a better deal for a lunch meal in SF. Highly recommended.

We got food delivered from here and found a cockroach in our biryani. First and last time.
We will never order from here again.
